“First a young man in sunglasses and a Palestinian scarf shouts out his anger at Israel. In Palestine, he says, people are “systematically murdered”. He draws a parallel to the extermination of the Jews by the National Socialists. “We will fight against the Zionist government…and fight on,” he shouts in a trembling voice, “until the liberation of all of Palestine! 48” The State of Israel was founded in 1948. Another speaker calls for support for the BDS anti-Semitic Israel boycott campaign.
In addition to the anti-Semitism issue, the allegation of a ban on black-red-gold flags also casts doubt on the “indivisibility” of the demonstration.
“We went anyway, have been verbally abused, mobbed, a flag even violently pulled down,” writes one of the participants on Facebook . “Several members of the Antifa stood in our way and threatened us.” Palestinian and Turkish flags, however, were allowed. Another wrote that he had been repeatedly insulted and harassed as a “racist asshole”. Later, his friend had his black-red-gold flag snatched from a woman by a friend.
“We were about ten people and recognizable as youth party of the liberal FDP because of our flags,” he says. At some point a man approached her and harassed her and insulted her. “He says we as liberals did not belong to the demonstration because we are to blame for everything bad in the world.””
