If we do not succeed in this transition to a sustainable society, where the climate issue and biodiversity and other issues are important, then there will be even greater stress on our societies.
The transition, he believes, must go hand in hand with social justice.
The Committee on the Environment is the most promising committee in Parliament, but the EU Parliament should work more on preventing poverty, distributing migration and doing more to prevent tragedies like that in Syria. And in the EU one must understand the climate aspect behind conflicts.
Unfortunately, because of the big players today, we are on the road with three degrees of warming in 2100. And somewhere along the way, much of Africa and the Middle East will actually become more or less uninhabited.”
