Working mums are to blame for the UK’s childhood obesity epidemic, a new study has claimed. Scientists found that children with employed mums were more likely to be heavier than those with stay-at-home mums – particularly if they were single. In contrast, the study claimed that the father’s employment had ‘no significant effect’ on the weight of children. (…) The research has been slammed online by those who accused it of being ‘ridiculous’ and ‘shaming mothers’. ‘Isn’t it time we stopped shaming mums for working, for not working, for being thin, for being fat…?’ one person angrily wrote online.
